VOTE FOR HOUND ON GUINESS ARTS PROJECTS
Hound is a new graphic novel re-imagining of the life and times of Ireland’s greatest mythological hero, Cúchulainn. Imagine Apocalypto meets Predator with a hint of Lord of the Rings and you are close the feel of this version. It is co-written by award winning filmmaker and illustrator Paul J. Bolger and Barry Devlin of Horslips. It is drawn by PJB.
Bolger tells ICN:
Getting the Guinness funds would allow me to take the time off the day job in film to get this mofo’ finished. Gathering votes seems to the best way to do that. Some has told me it’s a bit long winded to get to the voting page but all efforts are much appreciated.
The plan is to produce three 200 page volumes – called “Protector”, “Defender” and “Liberator” respectively.
It is a different take on Cúchulainn than Will Sliney’s in that we delve into the psychosis and torment of Cú Cullan and life long struggle against his real enemy – the spirit of war. There have been many King Arthur’s – I think Hound can add to a long line of “Dogboy” adaptations and compliment all the others that have been made, or will be made in the future.
Personally I think this looks amazing and I can’t wait to see the final comic.
