Deirdre de Barra is launching a new comic, Brian Boru and The Battle of Clontarf, (written by Rory Mc Conville and lettered by John Robbins) at the Battle of Clontarf Millenium Festival this weekend (Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th April) and hopefully in various shops as well. She talks about this and more in this […]
2009 saw Long Stone Comics release a one shot science fiction comic from the writer of sci-fi book Survival in a Void Peter Loftus and the artist of 2008′s acclaimed silent comic Found Deirdre De Barra comes a psychological science fiction comic from then infant publisher Long Stone Comics. Downpour told the tale of Set on a planet where a […]
TEDx DUBLIN SEPTEMBER 2013 Last weekend saw the TEDx Dublin Talks, and as the talks were conducted Deirdre de Barra and Phil Barrett had the daunting task of keeping pace through comic style interpretations. Although an ambitious project, they both survived and via Deirdres blog they managed to secure some pictures too, a few of […]
It could be just me and I doubt it, but 2012 was an epic year for Irish comics. The amount of content that was published was hereto before unseen and the quality of product was amazing. So to give you an idea of what went on in the Irish comic scene this year I’m going to give […]
VACATION!!…(nearly..) Over the last while the Irish Comic Noodlers has been running each week with a great range of art and doodle work from each of the daily artists. So as Autumn kicks in and schedules get way busier for each of us, The Noodles section for ICN will be taking a long deserved […]
My childhood heroine: Minnie the Minx.
Have been on a bit of a binge with Breaking Bad… F*ckin’ Chemistry, Yo!
Borg/Bat MashUp I
I’ve stepped into the middle of a story and I’m not sure what’s going on with these two… but yer man definitely has megalomaniacal tendencies
A Borg Cube, drawn with a drafting pen on A3 paper, scanned, some greys applied and then chucked on a space-y background. A tremendous amount of techie-nerd-doodling-Fun.
The Acme Bubble Bean 3000… another cool thing from the little kid part of my brain. I wish I could hang out with those guys and play in the Bubble Bean :)
Just re-read Preludes & Nocturnes, wondering should I resist the entire series or just go ahead and gorge myself. I’ll get nothing much else done, oh the temptation.
More child-like indulgence, drew this guy and decided he couldn’t be anything other than a Mad Scientist :)
Having a nostalgic summer noodling moment. Like a kid, just making sh*t up. On some planet that isn’t here, I’d have one of these to run amok in, Woohoooo!
There’s been a lot killin’ zombie games going on here all week. So here’s a random zombie killer…. chain saws are a bit handy really.
These guys popped into my head during the week. I don’t know their names yet but collectively they’re known as The Rhinestone Freaks.
So, this week my computer had a lobotomy, then a full brain transplant and now it’s arms and legs don’t work. Went back to basics and made a mess with ink and gouache and then took a photo. It’s fun to muck about with paint and get inky fingers every once in while :)
Have been reading some of the stories that come bagged with the Megazine every month. Among them, Mercy Heights. So here’s Tor Cyan. Blue dudes are just sh*t cool.
Have a look at the most clicked on posts from our first year where we published, with this one, 1349 posts to date, had almost 160,000 visits and almost 900 comments. Everyone at ICN would like to express our gratitude to everyone who took the time to visit our site this past year and we hope […]

Kick starting the Birthday Noodle Week this Monday is Deirdre de Barra! “I figure if you need a superhero to fill a cake, Supes would probably be the most accommodating…. He’s just that swell. A big Happy Birthday to ICN and congratulations to the gang who keep it all going from week to week!”
Still playing with the whole skip the inks stage and considering the soggy summer we’re having, Swamp Thing seemed just the chap to draw.
Still experimenting with texture and colour thrown at the pencils and by-passing the inking. Trying to speed up the start to finish times. Harley Quinn, so much fun, such a cheeky little young wan :)
This one’s for Matt who won’t be at 2d this year : ( Libations will be poured (down throats) in your honour. Any excuse really : )
Hellboy!!! Had more fun drawing and colouring this than should strictly be allowed. Ah hell… it’s the random nutty fun that keeps us relentlessly scribbling : )
