I always like to check in the very talented Gary Reynolds’ blog to see what wonders he has put up and this Saracen Warrior piece he has done recently done with no reference in Photoshop is just just beautiful. Head on over to his site and check out other great pieces here.
With the Irish Comic Noodlers on holidays at the moment, here’s a reminder of the awesomeness that will be returing your way in the New Year courtesy of Noodler regular Gary Reynolds. This appeared on his blog http://g-reyart.blogspot.ie/ showcasing Gary’s love of Batman once more. Great stuff.
VACATION!!…(nearly..) Over the last while the Irish Comic Noodlers has been running each week with a great range of art and doodle work from each of the daily artists. So as Autumn kicks in and schedules get way busier for each of us, The Noodles section for ICN will be taking a long deserved […]
Druidess This is my final post for a while as I have a lot of work and projects coming up so I’m going to be super busy for a few months. I’ve posted an old piece that I don’t think many people have seen. It’s been great being a Noodler and I look forward to […]
A quick sketch of a bounty hunter that you might have seen in Star Wars along with Bossk, Dengar and of course Boba Fett.
The Dwarf ‘’This week I’ve decided to post another piece that I did a finished version of that didn’t really show all the detail that I put into it. So here is the original with the detail warts and all. All done in Photoshop.’’
Speedpaint Batman ’This week I’ve decided to post a speedpaint I did of Batman. I have done a slightly more finished piece, but I found the original that was all done in at most an hour. I also didn’t realise I did it so small… about 410×600 pixels which is practically a thumbnail these […]
This week’s Noodle: Overpainting ‘This week I wanted to show a technique I’ve shown before on my blog, overpainting. Basically what it’s taking a 3D model or scene that has all the content, but not all of the info or design that shows mood, colour, FX, etc… It’s a really quick way to see […]
‘This week I’ve finally finished a piece I’ve been meaning to finish for a while. It’s your basic cyber chick that kind of reminds me of a female Metroid slightly. Anyway purpose of this pic was to make the figure still look female despite the armour and also to practice painting glows and stuff.’
So this week it’s: ‘Miss Fortune’ ‘This week I’ve done a heroine, Miss Fortune, I’ve been working on who is a little bit Indiana Jonesesque. Same era with a bunch of sidekicks which I might post at a later date. Also tried a bit of a Drew Struzan look to it. Done fairly roughly in […]
‘The Hunger’ ‘This week I decided to do a creepy Victorian type gent who has a dark, dark secret. All done in Photoshop in about 4-5 hours.’
Just a work in progress this week of a Centaur
‘This week I decided to do a fictional poster for a Mexploitation flick called El Bandito. A fallen former priest kicks ass and gets revenge in a small Mexican town… From Padre to puta madre!’
‘It’s ICN’s birthday and the party’s been gate crashed by a zombie clown troubled by the eternal debate of ‘Brains’ or ‘Cake’
Have a look at the most clicked on posts from our first year where we published, with this one, 1349 posts to date, had almost 160,000 visits and almost 900 comments. Everyone at ICN would like to express our gratitude to everyone who took the time to visit our site this past year and we hope […]
‘This week it’s a work in progress piece that kind of shows how I build up my paintings from really rough to refined. Shape, form, colour and lighting are all starting to come together with lots of areas to improve and refine. All done in Photoshop with about 4 hours put in so far.
This week it’s a pic of a female vampire who has gone to her local Electronica nightclub and has let her hunger get the better of her and I imagine that she maybe regrets it a little… Photoshop, 10-12 hours
This week I decided to do one of my favourite Marvel characters Moon Knight. The comics Bill Sienkiewicz did in the early 80’s blew me away and I found him extremely influential. I also wanted to do a monochrome piece as I was inspired by a lot of Ben Hennessy’s excellent work he’s been doing […]
Just a really quick and rough doodle this week as I didn’t have too much time.
‘Still have that Game of Thrones monkey on my back and again it’s not literally a person or scene from the series just fantasy art inspired by it! All done in photoshop with zero reference and took about 12-14 hours.’
So this week it’s: Battle ready I’ve been watching and loving Game of Thrones and although this isn’t any actual character from the series it definitely was inspired by that whole vibe. A fairly quick and rough piece (zoom in and you’ll see how rough!) that took about 4 hours or so in Photoshop.
This week I finished a painting I started quite a few years ago, but just left as it didn’t look the way I wanted it to. It’s of Obi Wan Kenobi as portrayed by Alec Guinness. I like how interesting his face was with his wrinkles and zen-like composure and power. I used reference […]
So this week it’s ‘Se7en’. This week my noodle is from one of my favourite movies, Se7en. Basically I just paused a scene from the movie and then used it as reference and painted the image in Photoshop. It originally looked more like Brad Pitt, but I embellished it a bit more as I […]
So this week it’s ‘Logan’ A rather messy painterly style that I was hoping in some small way to channel the likes of Bill Sienkiewicz and Kent Williams, both artists whose work I really admire. Painted straight in photoshop, no reference in about 3 hours or so.
